My name is Xenia de Carvalho and I am 20 years old, I live the fitness wellness lifestyle with all my heart. To be pure with the environment it is also important to be pure with yourself; mind, body and spirit. This year I will train to become a personal trainer and nutritionist so that I can officially pass on all my knowledge.

At the age of 16 I started to train in fitness and to deal with the subject of nutrition. I quickly slipped into the basic bodybuilding nutrition ''Broccoli and Chicken''. From Paleo to Intermittent Fasting I have tried all forms of nutrition. Over the years I developed an unhealthy relationship with food, I demonized various essential macronutrients such as carbohydrates or fat depending on the form of nutrition. I felt tired, hungry, unhappy. My weight fluctuated a lot, because of the weight training I had a lot of muscles but my body fat percentage just wouldn't go down at a certain point. My relationship to food became even more strict, for months I was eating strictly low-carb high protein. My body showed me that this kind of nutrition is unhealthy and not healthy in the long run. My immune system was so weakened at that time that I was constantly ill. At that time I thought that the only way to be fit is to eliminate carbohydrates, as the fitness industry advises you to do so. My relationship with food was so disturbed that I only ate vegetables and chicken.

The way to the Plant Based Diet: When I went on holiday to the Philippines in summer 2018 everything changed for me, on the small island where I was for 1 month there was hardly any chicken to eat, the main food consisted of rice and vegetables partly fish. So I had to change from a strict low-carb diet to a high-carb diet, mentally it was so hard for me, I constantly had the feeling not to eat enough protein to keep my hard trained muscles alive or that I will gain body fat because of the carbohydrates. But I soon realized how good I felt, my body changed so much during this time, not only externally but also internally. Back in Switzerland I had to go shopping for food again, I didn't know how to eat anymore, in my head there was a pure chaos between right and wrong. There I stood in front of the meat shelf, I looked at the packages and it really disgusted me, I just couldn't and didn't want to buy it anymore, not only because it disgusted me but because the main thought of me was why should an innocent animal have to die for my needs when I can get the protein from other sources.

From that point on I started researching the Plant-Based Diet. I was really shocked by all the information I found about the agri-cultural industry and the effects the consumption of dairy products and meat can have on our bodies. It all made sense to me, and from that day on I decided to eat mostly Plant-Based for a while to see how my body reacts. In the beginning it was a change as I had to find new recipes, but soon I realized how well I was doing, I was no longer sick and I felt pure with my body. Since then I have remained Plant-Based.

Why the Plant-Based Diet is right for me? Since I've been on a Plant-Based Diet I've learned that carbohydrates are not bad and that you should add as many different nutrients to your body as possible in order for it to function optimally and these nutrients are mainly found in vegetables and fruits. My fear of not eating enough protein and losing all my muscles with a plant-based diet was also completely unfounded. With the Vivo-Life Plant Based Protein from NAKEDFOOD.CH I make sure that I meet my protein needs every day. Since I have been eating this way I have been able to maintain my hard-earned muscles, my body is much more defined than before, I feel holistically fit but the most important thing is that I finally have a healthy relationship with food and I no longer demonize a single macronutrient. I had to relearn a lot of what I learned about fitness and diets, today I can say it was one of the best decisions in my life. Soon I will post my beloved Vivo-Life Protein Smoothie Bowls recipes in Instragram! Be curious!
